2017 Angler/Young Angler (AYA) Tournament

Green Lake Regional Angler Young Angler Fishing Tournament
Saturday June 17, 2017 Deacon Mills Park, Green Lake, WI
For the ninth straight year Dave and Krista Norton, of Norton’s Dry Dock, are working with the Angler Young Angler (AYA) National Organization, a not-for-profit organization, to host a youth based fishing tournament. The Norton’s focus is “to introduce youth into fishing, promote family values and relationships, create lasting memories, share and plant the seed of their love of Green Lake into the next generation, and to promote the Green Lake community.”
The Green Lake AYA Tournament is held on Green Lake and based out of Deacon Mills Park in downtown Green Lake. The date for this year’s event is Saturday, June 17, 2017.
Each team consists of one adult angler and up to two young anglers, ages 4 to 17. From the 8:30 am blast-off to the 2:30 pm weigh-in, young anglers spend time fishing with fathers, mothers, and mentors, exploring the waters in search of the right combination of 5 small mouth bass needed to take first place. To complete the day, AYA ends with an awards presentation, made possible by donations from area and national sponsors. The winning team goes home with a Lund A-12 fishing boat powered by a 5HP Mercury 4stroke outboard motor and a ShoreLand'r trailer. In addition, two $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to two lucky young anglers. (Last year we were able to award SEVEN scholarships…the sponsor’s support and generosity was overwhelming!!)
Each young angler receives a rod/reel/line, a tackle box, over 25 lures, a trophy, a bag of goodies, and lifelong memories of a great day spent on Green Lake fishing. The event includes official weigh-in, prizes, awards, and a BBQ lunch to follow a hard day’s fishing.
Last year’s tournament saw 51 teams registered with 87 kids fishing. We invite you to take a look at all the pictures on Norton’s Dry Dock Facebook page.
We are looking for fishing teams to fill this event. It promises to be a day to remember. New applications will be accepted April 1, 2017. Starting position is set by receipt of application and entry fee, with a 50 team limit. Don’t be left standing on the dock!
We are also looking for businesses interested in helping sponsor this not-for-profit event. Donations will be used to cover the costs for prizes, trophies, and food. Following is a list of local sponsors from 2016:
